10 MUST HAVES for a cozy dorm!

Moving to college three weeks after high school graduation is probably the most stressful thing you could do other than maybe taxes. I finished high school, planed a graduation party, graduated, took a trip to Costa Rica (post coming soon) AND bought all kinds of stuff to live on my own. However I love my dorm and all the time I spent setting it up is worth it.
So I put together an all important dorm packing list. There are hundreds of average packing lists for college but this one is specifically aimed at what will make you most comfortable in your home away from home. Obviously you still need to bring your microwave, etc. but my list is about making your new place feel homey. You're going to miss home. I'm an only child and thought I would never get away from my parents fast enough but now I miss them all the time! (mainly because I eat microwave food everyday)

 1. Buy a big blanket: It can be easily over looked but when you're cold in your dorm you don't want to completely pull off your bedding or have a blanket that is too short to cover you all the way.

2. Buy a desk Calendar: Cute and practical.

3. Bring a stuffed animal: My preference is a mini pillow pet.

4. Buy a rug: Target has fluffy ones, that's where I got mine pictured below.

5. Bring a picture of your family: Just because

6. Don't forget a lamp or extra lighting: The single florescent over head light gets old really fast.

7. Get a toilet paper holder: It's annoying when your roommate forgets to refill it :)

8. Bring your favorite DVDs: They'll be comforting to watch on your computer when you're completely bored and campus cable sucks.

9. Bring you pillow from home: Don't buy a new one, your neck/back/head will thank you.

10. Remember your favorite pajamas

My Dorm, very thankful to have no roommate in my room but 3 suite mates beside me.

What's a blow dry bar? My first Glam Dry

Moving to a new city wether it be for college, a job or any other reason comes with weeks of aimless driving. It's so frustrating not knowing where anything is but the fun part is finding new places.
So today I was driving around getting lost like always and I came upon a blow dry lounge. (Insert heart eye emoji) Glam Dry was featured in the Orlando Sentinel and is locally owned. This newer business concept is a salon that specializes in blow outs. They don't cut, color etc. they simply wash, condition, blow dry and style. Being a girl with coarse and biracial hair that process can take hours (once a week). Which I don't mind doing myself since I do my own hair best, duh, but it is a hassle. So a blow dry bar that does it for you is like a lifesaver.
I took myself there and gave my hair some pampering. I got a blow out with a deep conditioner for $55. The interior is extremely chic with black, white and gold accents.

They use Bumble and Bumble products. On my hair they used a lock-in moisture spray as well as a heat activating styling balm. I'm always looking for oils and heat protectors in order to stop future damage. So I purchased a small bottle of Bumble and Bumble straight blow dry balm.
Appointments can be made over the phone or online at ease. { glamdry.com }

Glam Dry is such a fun concept and I love the way my hair feels after.
If you like having someone else wash your hair or you have too much hair and too little time, I recommend a blow dry bar! If you're in the Orlando area I suggest Glam Dry.

National Ice Cream Day; Baskin Robins Wins

So apparently today is National Ice-cream Day. What a wonderful time to be alive. For my contribution to this important National Holiday I got some Baskin Robbins. Ice cream is my favorite thing ever and usually I'm extremely predictable; cookie dough is the way to go (sometimes cake batter with cookie dough). However on this particular day Baskin Robins flavor of the month sounded very appealing! It's called oreo n' cake ice cream. Cake flavored ice cream (not to be confused with birthday cake with icing, sprinkles etc.) and oreo cookies pieces AND chocolate cake-batter flavored ribbon!
`

I'm a girl of habit and in the ice cream pictured the top scoop is cookie dough... but the bottom scoop is the new oreo n' creme flavor! Get it before the month is gone!

Also picutred my Old Navy athletic pants, I highly recommend work out clothes from there when you're on the hunt for some cute clothes for the gym.

Bienvenida, Welcome, Fáilte (that's Irish)

Welcome to the Candied Globe! Thanks for taking a look at my humble home blog. This is a beginning blog and it has many interesting and probably random topics! I couldn't pick just one.
I love to travel, eat, watch movies, and shop.  I'm a college student working toward my Communications degree which I have no idea what I will be doing with. BUT it's okay because 'I have time to figure it out.'
I think that the world is our beautiful home. I love everything pretty as well as posh; Candy makes me think of celebration, dessert and happiness. Hence the name The Candied Globe.
